Scottish Social Housing Contract Win

FireAngel (AIM: FA.), a leading developer and supplier of home safety products, announces that it is to supply connected smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms to a social housing customer in Scotland.

FireAngel will supply approximately 4,000 properties with the Group's wireless interlinked mains-powered and battery-powered smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms. The contract is expected to be fulfilled over the next 18 months with revenue estimated to be nearly £0.5 million over the period.

The agreement, which is the latest in a series of related wins for FireAngel, follows the requirement for greater safety standards as part of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 (Modification of the Repairing Standard) Regulations 2019. The new standards require all homes in Scotland to have a smoke alarm fitted in the living room or lounge, as well as in circulation spaces, such as hallways and landings, plus heat alarms in kitchens.  All fitted alarms are required to be interlinked so that they can be heard throughout the property.  In addition, homes are required to have a carbon monoxide alarm fitted wherever there are fixed combustion appliances.

John Conoley, Executive Chairman of FireAngel, commented: “This contract, following a hiatus caused by COVID lockdowns, is the latest in a series of agreements with housing providers following the implementation of the Housing (Scotland) Act. Whilst activity levels in the market remain slightly uncertain due to COVID restrictions, this contract is further evidence of us delivering against our Connected Homes strategy and it is encouraging to see growing demand for our life-saving technology.”
