Harworth Group Plc – Planning Secured at Kellingly Colliery Site

The 151-acre site, located close to the M62 and other transport links, will provide up to 1.45 million sq. ft of manufacturing and distribution space. It is estimated that, once complete, the redeveloped site could generate several hundred new jobs.

Harworth took control of the site in March 2016, following the closure of the colliery in December 2015. The Company has spent the last twelve months undertaking site safety and security works, including demolishing redundant industrial structures, whilst masterplanning the site for future employment uses.

Owen Michaelson, Chief Executive of Harworth, said:

“We are delighted to have secured a resolution to grant planning permission for this major redevelopment, which will bring jobs and investment to the region. It is further evidence of the ability of our Capital Growth team to regenerate former industrial sites into sustainable developments for the benefits of local communities and underpins our strategy to drive long term value for shareholders.”
